Early Earth Mineral Systems | During the first half of its history, Earth underwent rapid and irreversible changes. Cooling of the Earth was associated with the evolution of the global tectonic regime, with a decrease in mantle-plume activity and the advent of plate tectonics. The evolution of life led to changes in atmospheric/oceanic redox state and the advent of biologically-mediated processes. The distinct style of the Early Earth is recorded in specific element enrichment processes and mineralization patterns. The aim of this session to explore the relationship between Archaean secular evolution in igneous and surface processes and the formation of mineral deposits on the early Earth. | Axel Hofmann, Marco Fiorentini, Jochen Kolb and Andrea Agangi |
