Phosphate deposits: state of the art and further potential | The aim of this session is to investigate new tools and case studies that can help to further understand and constrain the genetic processes involved in the formation of phosphate deposits, regardless of their origin (marine/sedimentary or igneous, related to alkaline magmatism and carbonatites). The by-products resulting from the exploitation of these deposits are of particular interest, especially those that can be easily recovered during the processing of apatite (as REE).|This session will also address the topic of the offshore exploitation of phosphorites. The latter will prove to be an important issue in the near future, especially on the south-western part of the African continental shelf. | Sophie Decrée, Poul Emsbo, Hechmi Garnit and Shao-Yong Jiang |
