Advanced Quantitative Studies and Non Linear Methods in Geosciences
|
This session offers a venue to discuss practical modeling in stochastic geosciences with advanced methods, considering that a multidisciplinary framework is preferred for practical applications. Modern research in geosciences is putting strong emphasis on modeling with nonlinear stochastic processes. The fundamental inputs to such endeavors are skewed distributed parameters. The approaches may require inverse solutions that integrate parameter fields, from geostatistics, with numerical solutions of differential equations (e.g., geodynamical processes, optimization models, hydrology and environmental studies, etc.). Related methods may consider non-Gaussian statistics, dynamics, transport, chaos and fractal theories.
